GraceFul Care, which provides home care management and advice, was recently honored at an AARP Dinner with the Dulles AARP Community Partner Award.
The agency was recognized for its hands-on and financial contributions to establish the area’s first Grandparents’ Day in Herndon. The event was held in cooperation with the AARP Dulles Classic Car show, and both events raised funds to provide eight geriatric nursing scholarships at George Mason University.
GraceFul Care CEO Pat Williams, her staff and Advisory Board Members, with assistance from the Herndon Rotary Club, planned and directed Herndon’s first Grandparents’ Day in the fall, where AARP, assisted living, and many other resources were available to grandparents. Children and grandparents’ enjoyed old time games such as jump rope, hula hooping, and bean bag toss as well as modern fun with face painting, robotics from Herndon High School, and rocket cars from the Children’s Science Center.
GraceFul Care is currently looking for sponsors, vendors, and activities for Herndon’s 2013 Grandparents’ Day to be held in September.
